Perfect Ripe Technologies offers a new avocado ripening process that costs nearly 25 percent less than current industry methods of ethylene gas ripening.   Utilizing the Xtend®“Ripening Bag” technology, each bag becomes your own ripening center and there is no need to treat any fruit with ethylene.

 

         Q: How does this technology differ from using ethylene gassing rooms?

     By controlling temperature/atmosphere with the Xtend® Ripening Bag, the fruit      produces its own ethylene gas naturally. The ripening process costs less than with      ethylene gassing rooms and the savings are passed onto customers.

 

         Q: What are the customer benefits?

         - Research shows that carrying “ripe” avocados leads to increased sales. This is a          cost-effective, flexible way to carry quality ripe fruit year-round

         - Fruit arrives ripe and ready-to-eat. The customer simply opens the Xtend® bag and          displays or serves the fruit

         - Customers also have the option to “hold” the fruit for up to 5-7 days in a their          refrigerator which provides added flexibility and control      

         - No ethylene or chemical treatment on the fruit they consume

 

           Q: Has this product been tested before?

      The Xtend® Ripening Bag has been used successfully in the UK for the past 5 years for avocados. Current U.S. customers include Coastline Produce, Ocean Mist Farms and Salyer American, which are currently using the technology with Iceless Broccoli.

 

            Q: What are the benefits of using the Xtend® bag technology?

         Uniform ripening: Xtend® bag technology produces the correct balance between O2          and CO2, creating the conditions for uniform fruit ripening (no checker boarding)

         Flexibility: The consumer can choose when they want to eat the ripe avocados and          will not have to throw out store bought ripe fruit if not consumed within 1-2 days-         essentially the customer has 7 days to eat ripe fruit

         Preservation of Flavor and Nutritional Value: Storage and ripening process preserves    “farm fresh” flavor and nutritional value

         Reduced Shrink and Waste: Modified atmosphere/humidity reduces dehydration and     weight loss, which in turn preserves firmness and prevents shrink

         Cost Effective: The process costs less and does not require capital to buy equipment          or additional machines and sensors.  Further savings can be found in other areas          such as a reduction in transportation costs

         Food Safety Assurance: Fruit is protected in a modified atmosphere from the packing house to the customer’s dock. Condensation is managed, which inhibits the growth of pathogens. The manufacturing process is ISO 9001 and CE Certified and the bag film   is FDA approved.  AND THE BAG CAN BE RECYCLED!
